Nexans completes export cable system for Dieppe-Le Tréport offshore wind farm

Nexans has officially handed over the two 225 kV HVAC export cable circuits of the Dieppe–Le Tréport offshore wind farm to its client RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Électricité). This milestone confirms the completion of Nexans’ four-year delivery scope and the commencement of the warranty and long-term maintenance period.

The handover signifies that the full export cable system has been delivered, tested, and accepted, establishing the final connection between the offshore wind farm and the French transmission grid.

The contract, awarded in March 2022, covered the turnkey delivery of the export cable system for one of France's largest offshore wind projects. Nexans was responsible for the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation, and protection of the two export cables, alongside long-term inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR) services.

Over the past four years, the project progressed through system design, manufacturing, offshore and onshore installation campaigns, followed by final pull-in, connection, and commissioning. With both circuits now handed over, the project enters its next phase focused on long-term reliability.

The Dieppe–Le Tréport offshore wind farm, located in the English Channel, will generate up to 496 MW of renewable electricity, sufficient for approximately 850,000 people. The successful completion of the export cable system contributes to France's energy security and decarbonisation goals.
