Nexans Deploys New Wire Drawing Lines Developed with Niehoff

Cable manufacturer Nexans has commissioned a new generation of wire drawing lines at its Lens plant in France, developed in collaboration with machinery maker Niehoff. This technological upgrade aims to enhance production efficiency while achieving significant energy savings.

The new line optimizes the production speed for copper wire, reducing energy consumption by up to 25% compared to older models. Nexans estimates this will result in an annual reduction of 840 tons of CO2 emissions. The machinery incorporates the latest advancements, including new-generation motors and a redesigned annealing furnace that restores the material's properties during processing.

The investment aligns with Nexans' E3 performance model, which balances economic efficiency, environmental benefits, and employee engagement. The new line replaces two existing machines, increasing production volumes and lowering energy costs. It also contributes to improved workplace safety and comfort.

Niehoff has been a supplier to Nexans for 50 years. The companies emphasize their long-standing partnership as crucial for developing sustainable and energy-efficient solutions. Nexans recently awarded Niehoff its "E3 Partnership" prize, recognizing their innovative collaboration and shared sustainability objectives.
