Nexans Electra Cable Laying Vessel Launched in Norway
Nexans announced the successful launch of its next-generation cable-laying vessel, the Nexans Electra, on November 13, 2025, at the Ulstein Verft shipyard in Norway. The launch marks a key construction phase for the vessel.

Nexans, a global leader in the energy transition, has achieved a significant milestone with the launch of its new generation cable-laying vessel, the Nexans Electra, on November 13, 2025. The vessel was successfully floated out of its construction hall at the Ulstein Verft shipyard in Norway.
The launch took place in a controlled environment within a covered dry dock, ensuring optimal conditions for the installation of the vessel's main systems into the empty steel hull. Moored at the quay, the ship is now prepared for the subsequent phases of finishing, commissioning, and testing before sea trials.
The Nexans Electra features a novel design and unprecedented technical capabilities. It will be equipped with three turntables capable of carrying a total load of 13,500 tons and designed to lay up to four cables simultaneously. Pascal Radue, Senior Executive Vice President PWR-Transmission at Nexans, stated, "Our fleet is at the very heart of our EPCI business, and these vessels embody our capability to deliver the most complex subsea cable projects on time and safely."
Upon its scheduled delivery in 2026, the Nexans Electra will enhance Nexans' capacity to execute complex EPCI subsea cable projects worldwide. This new vessel supports the growing global demand for offshore wind, interconnector, and offshore electrification projects.
