Nexans orders third advanced subsea cable laying vessel
Nexans is bolstering its subsea cable laying capacity with a third advanced vessel, aimed at supporting the growing offshore wind and interconnection markets. Delivery is scheduled for 2026.

Nexans, a designer and manufacturer of cable systems, is expanding its fleet with a third advanced subsea cable laying vessel to strengthen its market position in offshore wind and interconnection. This strategic investment is intended to meet the rising demand, particularly in the European and North American markets.
The new vessel, set for delivery in 2026, will build upon the capabilities of Nexans' flagship vessel, the Nexans Aurora. It is designed to install up to four cables simultaneously, a significant enhancement intended for large-scale projects and complex subsea operations.
This acquisition supports Nexans' record order book, which includes major contracts such as the 1.7 billion euro deal with TenneT and the 1.43 billion euro Great Sea Interconnector project. The investment aligns with the company's strategy to facilitate the global energy transition.
The construction and operation of this vessel are expected to generate several hundred direct and indirect jobs globally. The vessel will also feature a hybrid power generation system capable of running on bio-diesel, thereby reducing its carbon footprint in line with Nexans' environmental commitments.
