Nexans Replaces Damaged Subsea Power Cable for Corfu, Greece

Nexans announced the completion of a critical subsea cable replacement project near Corfu, Greece. The 145 kV cable, vital for supplying power to the island, was damaged in 2024 by a ship's anchor. The project to repair and replace the affected section was initiated in March 2025 by the client, IPTO (Independent Power Transmission Operator).

The replacement operation concluded in November 2025, restoring the power connection safely and efficiently. Nexans reported that the complex task was executed as planned, with zero safety incidents. The work was carried out using the company's vessel, Nexans Skagerrak, and involved close coordination between Nexans' offshore teams and IPTO.

This project highlights Nexans' capabilities in Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair (IMR) services for subsea infrastructure. The company positions itself as a reliable partner for cable owners requiring swift response and high-quality execution for repairs, especially under challenging offshore conditions.

The successful completion underscores the growing global demand for specialized subsea cable repair services. Nexans emphasized its readiness and expertise in addressing such critical infrastructure needs, ensuring the continuity of power supply even after significant damage.
