Nexans secures over €1 billion frame agreement with RTE

Cable manufacturer Nexans has secured a significant frame agreement with RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Electricité), France’s Transmission System Operator. Under the terms of the agreement, Nexans will design, manufacture, and supply high-voltage direct current (HVDC) cables to connect three offshore wind farms – Centre Manche 1 & 2 and Oléron – to the French transmission network.

The framework covers 450 km of subsea cables and 280 km of onshore cables. The total value of the agreement is stated to be over €1 billion, with the final amount contingent on the precise quantities to be agreed upon and the selection of subcontractors during the next phase leading to the signing of each EPCI contract.

This contract is a step towards France's goal of achieving 45 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2050. Nexans plays a vital role in Europe's energy transition by providing high-voltage cable systems to meet increasing demand for renewable energy infrastructure.

The agreement reinforces Nexans' position in the energy transition sector and its continued investment in grid infrastructure. The company aims to facilitate a more connected and sustainable future by delivering advanced cable technology for large-scale energy projects.
