Nexans signs 7-year contract with Enedis in France

Nexans has announced a seven-year framework agreement with French electricity network operator Enedis, valued at €600 million. The contract, running from 2026 to 2032 with three optional years, aims to supply medium-voltage cables for the modernization and reinforcement of France's electricity grid.

The agreement will support the connection of electric vehicle charging infrastructure, the burial of power lines, and the connection of renewable energy parks across France. Deliveries are set to commence in the first quarter of 2026, with an average annual volume double that of the previous contract.

Nexans was selected based on a proposal that aligned with Enedis' priorities of economic performance, security of supply, and corporate social responsibility (CSR). The cables will be primarily manufactured at Nexans' Bourg-en-Bresse site in France, with additional production capacity secured by a site in Battipaglia, Italy, reinforcing industrial resilience and European supply chain sovereignty.

The contract covers high-voltage A (HTA) cables used in the 20 kV underground network, with a focus on increasing the use of larger cross-sections (400 mm²) and reinforced direct burial (EDR) cables. Nexans has invested €15 million in its Bourg-en-Bresse facility to boost the production of these low-carbon cables. The company also highlighted its commitments to circularity through increased use of recycled aluminum and polyethylene.

This new contract extends the long-standing partnership between Nexans and Enedis, building upon a previous major contract for low-voltage underground cables.
