Nexans to Supply Cables for Dieppe – Le Tréport Offshore Wind Farm
Nexans has secured a contract worth approximately EUR 100 million with RTE to connect the Dieppe – Le Tréport offshore wind farm to the electricity grid.
Cable manufacturer Nexans has been awarded a contract valued at approximately EUR 100 million by RTE, France's national electricity transmission network operator. The agreement mandates Nexans to supply and install power export cables for the new offshore wind farm located off the coast of Normandy, between Dieppe and Le Tréport.
The project scope includes a total of 47 kilometers of subsea cables and 18 kilometers of land cables. The subsea cables are 225 kV three-core cables featuring an innovative hybrid armouring and an integrated optical fiber for remote condition monitoring. The land cables are similar to those previously supplied to RTE, and Nexans will also manage the onshore civil engineering works for cable burial.
With a capacity of 496 MW, the Dieppe – Le Tréport wind farm is expected to generate approximately 2,000 GWh of electricity annually, sufficient to power around 850,000 people. This project is significant for France's climate change mitigation efforts and its energy independence goals.
Nexans will also provide Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair (IMR) services for the entire link as part of the contract. The subsea cables will be manufactured at Nexans' facility in Halden, Norway, while the land cables will come from its plant in Charleroi, Belgium. The subsea cable laying operations are scheduled to commence in the second half of 2024.
