Nexans will supply and install the power export cables for the Dieppe-Le Tréport offshore wind farm, a significant development in France's renewable energy sector. The contract, valued at approximately 100 million euros, includes providing 47 km of offshore and 18 km of onshore cables for the 496 MW wind farm located in the English Channel.

This project is crucial for France's energy transition goals, aiming to enhance the country's energy independence and reduce carbon emissions. The wind farm, when operational, is expected to generate around 2,000 GWh annually, sufficient to power approximately 850,000 homes. The connection will be managed by RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Electricité).

The scope of work for Nexans encompasses a turnkey solution, including the installation and protection of the subsea and onshore cables. The offshore component will feature two 225 kV three-core cables, incorporating hybrid armoring and a fiber optic element for remote monitoring. The onshore link will consist of 18 km of 225 kV single-core cables.

Manufacturing of the subsea cables will take place at Nexans' facility in Halden, Norway, while the onshore cables will be produced in Charleroi, Belgium. Installation of the subsea cables is scheduled to commence in the latter half of 2024. The contract also includes long-term inspection, maintenance, and repair services for the power cable system.
