NextDC shares rise 43% following stake purchases by Goodman and Digital Realty
NextDC shares surged over 40% on Thursday after Goodman Group and Digital Realty initiated moves to acquire stakes of up to 9.9% in the Australian data center operator.

Australian data center operator NextDC saw its share price climb by more than 42% on Thursday following an aftermarket bookbuild initiated by Goodman Group and U.S.-based Digital Realty. The proposed acquisition targets a stake of up to 9.9% at a price of A$9.50 per share.
The company’s board characterized the move as opportunistic, noting it follows a recent downward revision of fiscal 2027 guidance and disclosed power supply issues at the M3 facility in Melbourne. Both acquirers stated they currently have no intention of launching a formal takeover bid, though they reserved the right to do so in the future.
This stock rally diverges from the broader sentiment in the U.S. data center sector. Market participants are increasingly concerned that the results of the U.S. midterm elections may lead to heightened regulatory oversight and potential restrictions on data center development, which has pressured valuations across the industry this week.
