Nexus Capital Management Completes Acquisition of Coldwater Creek and Soft Surroundings
Alternative asset manager Nexus Capital Management has finalized the purchase of CW Holdings, the parent company of apparel brands Coldwater Creek and Soft Surroundings.
Los Angeles-based Nexus Capital Management has completed the acquisition of CW Holdings, LLC from Newtimes Group. The company manages the Coldwater Creek and Soft Surroundings brands, which focus on women aged 45 and older through direct-to-consumer e-commerce and catalog platforms.
The acquisition unites the brands under Nexus’s portfolio of consumer investments. Since merging operations in 2023, Coldwater has aimed to scale its retail platform, targeting a demographic that favors established brand heritage and repeat purchasing behavior.
Nexus partner Jonathan Whitlock stated the firm intends to leverage its operating expertise to support the brand's growth phase. Coldwater CEO David Walde will continue to lead the organization, focusing on product investment and customer outreach strategies. Legal and financial advisory services for the deal were provided by firms including Paul, Weiss and Robert W. Baird & Co.
