Nexus Mods mandates disclosure for AI-generated content
PC gaming mod repository Nexus Mods will now require creators to explicitly disclose the use of artificial intelligence in their uploads.

Nexus Mods has implemented a new policy requiring all creators to disclose the use of artificial intelligence in their uploaded modifications. The platform is introducing mandatory fields during the file upload process to identify whether AI tools were employed in the development of the content.
Site owner Victor Folmann stated that the policy change follows consistent user feedback regarding the lack of transparency surrounding AI-generated assets. While the site previously offered optional tags, these new measures aim to standardize the reporting process and improve accessibility of information for the community.
This decision places Nexus Mods among the first major digital creative platforms to formalize policies addressing the integration of generative AI. As concerns regarding copyright and attribution persist within the modding community, the platform seeks to mitigate confusion by ensuring users are informed about the technical origin of downloaded files.
