NIB Finances Vilnius Street Lighting Infrastructure Renewal
The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) and Vilnius energy group Gijos have signed a EUR 10 million financing agreement to support the modernization of the city's street lighting.

The Nordic Investment Bank (NIB) has entered into a 12-year financing agreement of up to EUR 10 million with Gijos, a Vilnius-based energy group. The funds will support the renewal of street lighting infrastructure within the Lithuanian capital.
The financing will facilitate the replacement of street poles across the city, an initiative planned for 2025–2027. This project is being undertaken by Gijos' subsidiary, Vilniaus Apšvietimas UAB, and forms part of a larger EUR 20 million infrastructure modernization program.
The project aims to upgrade Vilnius' street lighting by replacing aging poles, many of which were installed in the 1980s. The modernization is expected to enhance lighting efficiency and reduce energy consumption for the city.
