Nigerian Port Orders Two Konecranes Gottwald Mobile Harbor Cranes
Konecranes will deliver two mobile Gottwald harbor cranes to Tincan Island Container Terminal in Lagos, Nigeria. The order aims to meet growing container traffic and enable service for larger vessels.

Finnish crane manufacturer Konecranes has received an order for two mobile Konecranes Gottwald harbor cranes from Tincan Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT) in Lagos, Nigeria. The order is intended to meet increasing container traffic and enable the terminal to service larger vessels. The cranes are scheduled for delivery in August 2021.
TICT, part of African logistics giant Bolloré Africa Logistics, placed the order in anticipation of growing container volumes from 2021 onwards. The new Model 7 cranes will allow the terminal to handle increasingly larger cargo ships, a growing requirement in the liner shipping industry.
"We have always had excellent experiences with Konecranes equipment. We are pleased to add two Model 7 cranes to our facility," said Etienne Rocher, CEO of TICT. Konecranes stated that the new cranes will bring TICT's fleet of mobile Konecranes Gottwald harbor cranes to twelve units, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing vessel turnaround times.
Konecranes highlighted that the order demonstrates the company's long-term partnership with Bolloré, supplying equipment to the group's facilities globally. The new cranes will be deployed in the Tincan area of Lagos for container handling.
