Nigerian Port Orders Two Konecranes Mobile Harbor Cranes

Konecranes Oyj has received an order to supply two Konecranes Gottwald Model 7 mobile harbor cranes to Tincan Island Container Terminal Limited (TICT) in Lagos, Nigeria. The order, booked in January 2021, reflects Konecranes' commitment to helping customers and industries grow and adapt for more efficient, sustainable, and safer operations.

The new cranes are intended to address the increasing container traffic demand and enable the terminal to serve larger vessels. TICT, a subsidiary of Bolloré Africa Logistics, anticipates significant growth in container volumes starting from 2021. Delivery of the new cranes is scheduled for August 2021.

Etienne Rocher, CEO of TICT, highlighted the importance of the new cranes in meeting the evolving requirements of container ships. "We have always been very satisfied with Konecranes equipment," Rocher stated, noting their ability to handle two containers at once and their flexibility.

This order will bring TICT's fleet of Konecranes Gottwald mobile harbor cranes to a total of twelve. According to Konecranes, this investment will enhance the terminal's efficiency and expedite vessel turnaround times. Konecranes and Bolloré Africa Logistics have a long-standing partnership that covers several of Bolloré's locations worldwide.
