Nike and Hyperice Combine New Technology in Recovery Slides

Nike and Hyperice have introduced the Air Zoom Hyperslide, a new product designed to enhance athletic recovery immediately following physical activity. The slide incorporates Nike's Air Zoom cushioning technology with Hyperice's patented heat and vibration features, aiming to speed up the recovery process.

Historically, athletic innovation has prioritized performance enhancement, such as improving speed or power. Recovery was often considered a secondary step, undertaken after exertion. However, current sports science increasingly emphasizes the critical role of recovery in overall performance and career longevity. Tobie Hatfield, Nike's Senior Director of Athlete Innovation, stated the Hyperslide is designed to initiate recovery within the first five minutes post-activity.

Hyperice CEO Jim Huether views this collaboration as part of a broader trend toward intelligent, connected apparel and footwear. He believes the Hyperslide, along with the earlier Hyperboot, signifies the emergence of a new category: tech-enabled footwear blending performance gear with wearable electronics. This innovation aims to benefit not only professional athletes but also active individuals seeking to maintain fitness and health over the long term.

The Air Zoom Hyperslide will be available starting September 29 for $249 on Nike.com and Hyperice.com, as well as select U.S. retailers. The launch taps into the growing market focus on recovery as integral to performance and extended athletic careers.
