Nikon announces firmware 2.00 update for ZR camera

Nikon is rolling out firmware version 2.00 for the ZR full-frame camera, featuring the integration of RED color science into H.265 video recording.

4 November 2026

Nikon has announced the release of firmware version 2.00 for its ZR full-frame camera, scheduled for public download shortly. This marks the first major update for the model since its commercial launch.

The update introduces the Log3G10 curve and support for the REDWideGamutRGB color space within the H.265 video recording format. This integration aims to provide filmmakers with greater flexibility in color grading while maintaining the smaller file sizes associated with H.265. Additionally, users can now adjust high ISO noise reduction levels when recording in Log3G10 or N-Log.

Operating efficiency has been expanded through customizable controls. Operators can now assign settings such as ISO sensitivity, exposure, and white balance to command dials. Furthermore, specific functions, including 3D LUT and color display assistance, can be mapped to function buttons for quick access.

Technical updates also include support for focus peaking while using 3D LUTs in R3D NE format, 3D LUT output via HDMI for external monitoring, and a new process to mitigate flicker in low-light environments.
