Nikon is expected to release a new full-frame camera, reportedly named the Z500, next week. According to information from NikonRumors, the camera is positioned to compete directly with Sony's A7C series.
The upcoming Z500 is anticipated to feature a 24-megapixel full-frame image sensor. While built upon the existing Nikon Z5II platform, the new model is said to incorporate design changes, potentially including an integrated viewfinder without a protruding eyepiece. Enhanced video capabilities are also expected.
For context, the Nikon Z5II, launched in April 2025, is an entry-level full-frame mirrorless camera. It utilizes the EXPEED 7 image processor and includes 5-axis in-body image stabilization offering up to 7.5 stops of compensation at the center of the frame. The Z5II has an effective pixel count of approximately 24.5 megapixels.
