Details have emerged regarding Nikon's yet-to-be-announced Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S lens after it was photographed in use by a press photographer at the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. This sighting follows previous reports of the lens being tested at events like the French Open and during preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Nikon officially confirmed the development of this high-end S-Line series lens for its Z-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras in May. The Z 120-300mm f/2.8 TC VR S is expected to offer a versatile zoom range. A key feature highlighted is an integrated 1.4x teleconverter, which can extend the focal length to 168-420mm at an f/4 aperture.

The lens incorporates VR (Vibration Reduction) optical image stabilization, designed to work in conjunction with Nikon's flagship camera bodies like the Z9 and Z8. Despite its professional capabilities, the lens is described as relatively compact, measuring approximately 112mm in diameter and 200mm in length, making it more portable than some of Nikon's existing super-telephoto options.

Industry rumors suggest a potential release by the end of October, with early production possibly being limited. While official pricing has not been disclosed, speculation points to a price tag exceeding that of the current Nikkor Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S, which retails for a significant sum.
