Nintendo has recently released instructions on its website detailing how to replace the battery in the European version of its Switch 2 game console. However, official replacement batteries are not yet available for purchase. According to the guide, only Switch 2 models with the identifier BEE-001 are designed for user-replaceable batteries.

The procedure requires users to have a PH00 Phillips head screwdriver and a BEE-003 replacement battery. The console must be powered off, and all game cards, microSD Express cards, and Joy-Con controllers removed. The rear cover is secured by five screws, which are noted to have a locking compound applied and are tighter than other screws. The guide emphasizes pressing the screwdriver firmly into each screw and maintaining a vertical position during removal.

Once the four screws securing the side panels are removed, the rear cover can be detached, allowing direct removal of the old battery. The battery connects through metal contacts, meaning no cables or plugs need to be disconnected. The battery compartment in the European Switch 2 features an "anti-tamper" design that prevents the battery from being installed incorrectly.

Before reassembling the console, Nintendo advises users to check that the top buttons and microphone are correctly positioned. They also remind users to ensure that screws do not adhere to internal magnets during the reassembly process.
