Nintendo Switch 2 Price to Increase by $50 Next Week

Nintendo has announced that the price of its Switch 2 console will increase by $50 beginning September 1st. The 256GB base model, which does not include a game, will go from $449.99 to $499.99. This price adjustment follows prior notice given by the company.

Several game bundles for the Switch 2, priced above $500 and including a game with a slight discount, are also scheduled for release this fall. The console currently boasts a robust and expanding library of games, with upcoming titles such as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake and The Duskbloods.

The Nintendo Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch LCD display and detachable Joy-Con 2 controllers. It offers backward compatibility with most original Switch titles, alongside exclusive games like Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders.

This price increase is reportedly influenced by broader supply chain issues and component shortages affecting the tech industry. While a $50 increase is substantial, it is less significant than price hikes seen on some competing handheld devices, such as the Steam Deck OLED which saw an increase exceeding $200.
