Nintendo Switch 2 with Removable Battery Appears in Europe

A version of the Nintendo Switch 2 gaming console equipped with a removable battery has appeared on the European market. Spanish publication Nintendúo reported on September 3 that the new model is visually identical to the original but incorporates changes to its weight and battery performance.

Nintendo has not provided specific details about this console variant in Europe. Consumers can identify the removable battery version by checking three elements on the packaging: the barcode begins with 'OSM', the serial number starts with 'HLE' (compared to 'HAE' for the original), and the casing near the Joy-Con connectors on the removable battery model includes screws, unlike the original.

The console with the removable battery weighs approximately 545 grams, a slight increase from the original's 534 grams, a difference largely unnoticeable in hand. The battery capacity is rated at 5172 mAh, marginally less than the original's 5220 mAh, suggesting a minor reduction in operating time on a single charge.

Replacing the battery has been significantly simplified in this new version. The original Switch 2 required a complex process involving heat, specialized tools, and careful disassembly. The removable battery model can be opened with a standard Phillips head screwdriver. Nintendo plans to sell replacement batteries and stated that following official tutorials for the replacement process will not void the warranty.
