Nintendo revealed gameplay for a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, on the Nintendo Switch 2 console.

The remake features significantly enhanced graphics compared to the original Nintendo 64 version, adopting a more realistic visual style. New dialogue has been added to further flesh out character personalities. Players can now control Link to jump actively, unlike the original game where Link would only jump automatically at platform edges.

The game retains the original sound effects. Players can quickly switch equipment and use an aim function with a single button press. The original game's loading screens have also been preserved as part of the experience, a deliberate choice to maintain the original game's feel.

Additionally, a "timeline" feature has been added to help players track story progression and mission details. Players can also utilize roll and dash mechanics. By humming, players can have Link play learned songs directly into the Switch 2 console.

Events within castle areas will be presented in third-person perspective, and time within towns will no longer be static, allowing players to witness sunsets. The time-manipulation aspect of the Ocarina remains a core feature.
