Nintendo to stop selling original Switch in Europe next year

Nintendo has confirmed it will stop selling the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch – OLED Model hardware in Europe starting in mid-2027. The announcement was made as part of an updated FAQ regarding revisions to Nintendo hardware in the region.
The decision means that after nearly a decade since its March 2017 launch, the entire original Switch family of systems will no longer be sold to European retailers. This move by Nintendo signals a transition away from the current generation hardware.
While Nintendo has not provided a specific reason for the discontinuation of sales, it is common for console manufacturers to phase out older models as newer hardware is developed or released. The company has previously introduced updated versions of the Switch, such as the OLED Model, and speculation about a successor console is ongoing.
This cessation of hardware sales in Europe does not immediately impact support services or online functionalities for existing Nintendo Switch systems. Nintendo typically continues to support its products for a specified period following the end of sales.
