Nio CEO: Electric vehicle technology is clearly converging
Nio founder and CEO William Li stated that the technological development in new energy vehicles is clearly converging towards fully electric. He projects that by 2030, EVs will represent over 80% of China's new car market.

William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of electric vehicle maker Nio, has articulated his view on the current technological direction of new energy vehicles, stating it is clearly converging towards fully electric.
Li emphasized that this trend should no longer be ignored, likening denial of it to "burying one's head in the sand." He made these remarks during a media communication session following the launch of the five-seater version of Nio's ES8 model.
The automotive market has faced considerable sales pressure in the first half of the year. Li acknowledged that despite full electric vehicles being the only growing segment, their growth was a modest 3.6%, indicating significant overall market pressure.
Looking ahead to the second half of the year, Li expressed cautious optimism, predicting a stabilization of the market. He believes the overall market size remains substantial, with user demand still present, and new competitive products like the ES8 could encourage consumer replacement purchases.
