Nio Completes 120 Million Battery Swaps, Activates 4,000th Station
Electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has achieved a milestone of 120 million battery swaps. The company also launched its 4,000th battery-swap station, expanding its service network.
Nio announced Tuesday it had completed its 120 millionth battery swap, a significant marker for the electric vehicle maker's battery-swapping infrastructure. The company also brought its 4,000th battery-swap station into service on the same day.
The expansion includes the deployment of fifth-generation battery-swap stations, which will support Nio's brands, including its newer Onvo and Firefly models. This move aims to further solidify Nio's position in the competitive EV market by offering rapid battery replacement options.
The network now comprises 9,166 charging and battery-swap stations, with 1,049 dedicated highway swap locations. Nio reported that its battery-swapping service has delivered a cumulative 6.35 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
This development underscores Nio's commitment to its battery-as-a-service model, which allows drivers to quickly exchange depleted batteries for fully charged ones, mitigating charging time concerns often associated with electric vehicles.
