Nio Launches 90th Charging Route, 989km Loop Through Northern China's Ancient Sites
Electric vehicle maker Nio has launched its 90th charging route, a 989-kilometer loop in Northern China connecting eight battery swap stations and several historical landmarks.
Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has officially opened its 90th charging route, dubbed the "Jinbei Ancient Architecture Loop." The route spans 989 kilometers and is equipped with eight battery swap stations.
The route originates in Taiyuan and connects notable historical sites including the Yungang Grottoes, the Hanging Temple, and the Wooden Pagoda of Ying County. Nio states that the 5-day, 4-night journey allows travelers to explore ancient architecture spanning millennia, from Tang Dynasty structures to Northern Wei Buddhist caves and Liao Dynasty pagodas.
William Li, Nio's founder, chairman, and CEO, announced the route's completion. He described the "Nio Charging Scenic Routes" initiative as an energy infrastructure project designed to enhance user travel experiences. This launch brings Nio's total scenic routes to 90, including previously established routes like the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, Hexi Corridor, and Hulunbuir Grassland. The company aims to reach 100 such routes by the end of the year.
Nio's national charging infrastructure now comprises 9,301 charging and battery swap stations. This includes 4,061 battery swap stations and 5,240 charging stations with a total of 30,218 charging piles. To date, Nio has facilitated over 120 million battery swaps.
