Consulting firm niologic GmbH has assisted a European internet group, acquired by a US-based company, in integrating customer analytics and technical accounting data post-merger.

Following its sale to a US enterprise, the European internet group needed to comply with numerous US GAAP accounting regulations. The group was required to detail its existing billing processes and accruals according to both IFRS and US GAAP standards.

niologic had previously managed data integration and customer analytics during the sale negotiations. Leveraging this existing knowledge, the firm was entrusted with the post-merger integration of technical accounting. niologic developed a data model connecting product and contract data with billed transaction information.

Utilizing ETL automation, the data model was updated daily by subsidiaries, automatically calculating corresponding accruals. Machine learning techniques, including clustering and text analysis, were employed to process historical data, ensuring proper accrual for older, active contracts.

The project was completed within three months, prior to the final SEC filings. Approximately 2 billion accrual positions were generated from hundreds of gigabytes of data. niologic states that its technical and financial expertise, applied to big data, enabled timely compliance with SEC reporting requirements.
