NIO's 'Silk Road' Battery Swap Route Nears Completion
Automaker NIO announced its 'Silk Road' battery swap route is one day away from full completion. The westernmost station opened today near the Kazakhstan border.
Automaker NIO has announced that its 'Silk Road' battery swap route for electric vehicles will be fully operational tomorrow. The newest station, located at the Horgos Kaiyuan Silk Road Hotel near the Kazakhstan border in western China, was launched today, marking the westernmost point of the route.
The 'Silk Road' route spans 3,605 kilometers and comprises 33 battery swap stations. Upon completion, the network will enable NIO electric vehicle owners to travel across China and perform battery swaps throughout the journey, reaching all provincial-level administrative regions.
This expansion contributes to NIO's broader infrastructure development. The company now operates a total of 9,430 charging and swap stations nationwide, including 4,124 dedicated battery swap stations. Additionally, NIO maintains 5,306 charging stations and 30,594 charging piles.
