Niron Magnetics Receives $150 Million Loan for Iron Nitride Magnet Manufacturing
Niron Magnetics has secured a $150 million loan from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community to support the construction of its Sartell manufacturing facility. The funding will advance the production of rare-earth-free iron nitride magnets.

Niron Magnetics, the company commercializing the world's first rare-earth-free Iron Nitride permanent magnets, announced it has received a $150 million loan from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). The funding is designated to advance the construction of its manufacturing facility in Sartell.
This financing represents a significant step for Niron Magnetics as it aims to scale up the production of its proprietary iron nitride magnets. These magnets serve as an alternative to traditional rare-earth-based magnets, which are crucial components in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and consumer electronics.
The SMSC's investment in Niron Magnetics highlights a growing interest in more sustainable and ethically sourced materials within the technology sector. The community has previously invested in various sectors, but this marks a substantial commitment to a manufacturing enterprise.
The Sartell facility is planned to produce Niron Magnetics' patented iron nitride magnets. Following successful pilot production runs, this loan will enable the company to commence full-scale commercial manufacturing, addressing the increasing demand for sustainable magnetic solutions.
