Nokia and BT Group sign deal to monetize 5G network via telco APIs
Nokia and UK telecom operator BT Group have signed an agreement to leverage Nokia's Network as Code platform and developer portal to unlock new 5G network revenue streams.

Nokia Oyj and BT Group announced an agreement to develop new revenue opportunities for 5G networks by utilizing Nokia's Network as Code platform and its developer portal. The deal will open up BT Group's cloud-native network capabilities to application developers through software application programming interfaces (APIs).
The collaboration centers on Nokia's platform, which provides developers with tools like software development kits (SDKs) and open APIs. These tools grant access to deep network functionalities and data, enabling developers to build new applications and services for enterprise, industrial, and consumer use cases. The objective is for BT Group to offer its customers more than just basic connectivity.
Through this agreement, developers will be able to utilize BT Group's network features and create new value, particularly for customers of its EE brand. Nokia has previously entered into similar agreements with other operators, such as DISH Wireless. The platform operates on a revenue-sharing model involving developers, operators, and Nokia.
Nokia stated that the collaboration strengthens its long-standing partnership with BT Group. BT Group has been active in industry efforts to open up telecom networks to application developers. This agreement aims to further deepen this cooperation and create new avenues for leveraging BT Group's network assets.
