Nokia and ICEYE sign agreement with Ukrainian Ministry of Defence for satellite systems
Nokia and ICEYE have signed a letter of intent to assist the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence in developing independent, sovereign satellite communications.

Nokia and space intelligence firm ICEYE have entered into a letter of intent with the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence to develop sovereign satellite communication capabilities. The partnership was announced on October 22, 2026, during a diplomatic visit by the Prime Minister of Finland to Ukraine.
The project focuses on creating secure, high-performance low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite systems. By utilizing this infrastructure, the Ukrainian government intends to maintain full control over its own satellite and ground segment, reducing reliance on third-party commercial networks that may be vulnerable to disruption.
Reliable connectivity is viewed as a national security priority in the ongoing conflict, where ground-based network infrastructure often faces interference. This initiative builds on a previous agreement between Nokia and ICEYE to provide European-sourced satellite connectivity solutions for governmental and defense sectors.
