Nokia and NOS Portugal Expand 5G Network Partnership
Nokia has announced a deal with Portuguese operator NOS for its 5G Standalone Core and a memorandum of understanding for its Network as Code platform. The agreements deepen their collaboration and aim to enable new 5G service development.
Espoo, Finland – Nokia announced a deal with Portuguese operator NOS for its 5G Standalone Core, which will provide NOS with a fully automated and scalable software model for delivering new 5G customer offerings securely and efficiently. The solution promises near zero-touch automation and ultra-low latency capabilities.
In addition, the companies have expanded their partnership with a memorandum of understanding to utilize Nokia's Network as Code platform and developer portal. This collaboration aims to create application programmable interfaces (APIs) enabling third-party developers to build software solutions for various industrial, enterprise, and consumer use cases by leveraging NOS's 5G network capabilities and data.
Nokia will also supply NOS with its MantaRay Network Management solution for consolidated and automated network monitoring. The underlying network infrastructure will use Nokia's 7220 IXR interconnect routers. Nokia states it leads the 5G Standalone Core market with over 80 communication service provider customers globally.
