Nokia completes in-place modernization of global data center networks
Nokia has successfully transitioned its complex, live data center infrastructure to a unified, automated fabric without disrupting operations. Early results indicate an 80 percent reduction in network-related incidents.

Nokia has executed a major modernization of its IT infrastructure, addressing the fragmentation of its global data center networks. By adopting a brownfield transformation approach, the company upgraded its systems while maintaining continuous, live operation, avoiding the risks typically associated with large-scale network migrations.
The project moved away from diverse, multi-vendor legacy environments toward a standardized, intent-based fabric architecture. By utilizing digital twins to validate configuration changes before deployment, the company reduced the risks of human error and operational downtime during the transition phase.
The strategy has proven effective, with initial site deployments showing an approximately 80 percent decrease in network-related incidents. Building on these results, Nokia is currently scaling the model across its global network, aiming to provide long-term operational consistency and simplify the management of its enterprise infrastructure.
