Nokia launches mission-critical Industrial Edge solution
Nokia Oyj has released its new Industrial Edge solution, designed to accelerate enterprises' operational technology (OT) digitalization and their journey towards Industry 4.0. The platform combines compute, storage, and networking for demanding industrial environments.
Espoo, Finland – Nokia Oyj today announced the launch of the industry's first off-the-shelf, mission-critical Industrial Edge solution. The new Nokia MX Industrial Edge platform is designed to help asset-intensive enterprises in sectors such as manufacturing, energy, and transportation accelerate their operational technology (OT) digitalization initiatives and advance their journey to Industry 4.0.
The solution addresses the needs of industries requiring increased capabilities and performance at the network edge, with tight integration to industrial systems and networking. It uniquely combines on-premise compute, storage, wired and wireless networking, and industrial applications onto a unified OT digitalization platform.
Industry 4.0 necessitates widespread digitalization and connectivity of equipment, leading to significant data volumes. The need for real-time automation means data increasingly needs to be processed at the edge, close to its source. Gartner predicts that 75% of industrial data will be processed at the edge by 2025.
Nokia MX Industrial Edge offers enterprises a scalable, cloud-native architecture that simplifies the deployment and management of high-performance applications and critical networking solutions. Offered as an Edge-as-a-service, it provides flexibility for scaling and a consumption-based cost model.
