Nokia Receives FCC Approval for Broadband Devices in US
Nokia Oyj has obtained conditional approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its in-home broadband devices, allowing for continued deployments across the United States.

Nokia Oyj announced it has received conditional approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its range of in-home broadband devices, including its Beacons and Optical Network Terminal (ONT) platforms. This approval exempts Nokia's devices from restrictions under the FCC's "Covered List," which identifies foreign-made equipment deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to U.S. national security.
The exemption permits U.S. service providers to continue deploying Nokia's broadband devices without disruption, supporting the company's and its customers' ongoing deployment and investment plans. The FCC has determined that Nokia's products do not pose a risk to U.S. national security.
Furthermore, Nokia is committing to manufacturing its next-generation Wi-Fi 8 gateways within the United States. This additional investment in domestic production will support the expansion of broadband across the U.S. and aligns with evolving regulatory requirements, such as "Buy America" provisions.
Nokia officials emphasized that domestic manufacturing and this FCC conditional approval provide customers with the certainty needed for continued network investments. Industry analysts view Nokia's position as strong, particularly in XGS-PON deployments, enabling uninterrupted supply and future upgrades.
