Nokia to Invest $4 Billion More in U.S. for AI-Ready Networks
Nokia Oyj announced plans to expand its U.S. research, development, and manufacturing capabilities with an additional $4 billion investment. The funding is designated for advancing AI-ready network technologies.

Nokia Oyj announced from Dallas, Texas, its intention to significantly expand its U.S. research, development, and manufacturing operations with a $4 billion investment. The investment aims to accelerate innovation across AI-ready mobile, fixed access, IP, optical, and data center networking technologies.
This planned expansion builds upon Nokia's prior $2.3 billion investment in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, R&D, and AI connectivity, facilitated by its acquisition of Infinera Corporation. Infinera had previously committed $456 million towards U.S. manufacturing facilities, which received incentives under the CHIPS Act.
The company plans to allocate approximately $3.5 billion towards U.S.-based R&D, emphasizing its commitment to next-generation connectivity and AI advancements, drawing on the legacy of Nokia Bell Labs. An additional $500 million will focus on manufacturing and R&D capital expenditures in states including Texas, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
These investments are intended to bolster Nokia's portfolio of AI-optimized networking solutions. The funding will also support research into advanced networking technologies such as automation, quantum-safe networks, semiconductor manufacturing, and materials science.
Nokia stated that the expanded investment is designed to enhance the nation's capacity for delivering secure, productive, and prosperous connectivity at scale, driven by AI, while also fortifying domestic production of essential network infrastructure components.
