Nokia has been selected as the sole supplier for Orange Belgium's optical network infrastructure upgrade. The project will consolidate fixed and mobile networks into a single optical transport network.

Espoo, Finland – Nokia Oyj announced Tuesday that it has been selected by Orange Belgium as the sole supplier for a significant upgrade to the operator's transport infrastructure. The multi-year project aims to unify Orange Belgium's fixed and mobile networks into a single, converged optical transport network across Belgium.
The modernization effort is designed to enhance the network's resilience, security, and scalability, addressing the growing demand for bandwidth driven by services such as AI applications, remote work, video streaming, and cloud computing. By consolidating transport infrastructure, Orange Belgium also seeks to simplify operations and accelerate the delivery of new services.
Nokia's AI-powered WaveSuite automation platform will be implemented to streamline network management and improve operational efficiency. The upgraded network will support speeds from 1 Gbps to 400 Gbps and beyond, utilizing Nokia's high-capacity 1830 PSS platform.
This upgrade represents a step towards supporting advanced services and meeting future connectivity demands. Orange Belgium CTO Philippe Toussaint stated that the project is a cornerstone of their commitment to building a network that meets evolving customer demands and strengthens Belgium's digital economy.
