The creators of the Nopia synthesizer, which gained significant attention online in 2023, have announced that the device is nearing production readiness. Martin Grieco and Rocío Gal stated that the instrument will be available to purchase within a few months, with an anticipated price point of approximately £550.
Nopia is designed around the concept of harmonic interplay, integrating multiple sound modules into a single performance instrument. These modules include a one-octave keyboard called the Chord Builder, a bass section, an arpeggiator, and a pad synthesizer, functioning similarly to a drumless groovebox.
Rather than relying on numerous knobs controlling a single patch, Nopia's design focuses on blending these distinct elements. The Chord Builder keyboard is specifically intended to facilitate the creation of complex harmonic structures and patterns.
The upcoming release marks a significant step for the Nopia project, aiming to offer musicians a unique tool for sound design and performance. The device's distinctive approach to synthesizing and arranging sounds positions it as a notable entry in the electronic music hardware market.
