NORD introduces DuoDrive geared motor for intralogistics
NORD DRIVESYSTEMS has launched DuoDrive, a new geared motor system tailored for intralogistics applications. The company claims it offers high efficiency and a compact design for conveyor systems.
Getriebebau NORD GmbH & Co. KG has introduced the DuoDrive, a geared motor system designed for conveyor systems in the intralogistics and food industries. The company states the DuoDrive integrates a high-efficiency IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motor with a single-stage helical gear unit into a single housing, resulting in a more compact design.
The DuoDrive reportedly achieves a system efficiency of 92% in its power class, supported by the IE5+ motor's wide torque range. This is said to optimize performance for the partial load ranges common in intralogistics applications, reducing energy loss.
Due to its efficient design, the DuoDrive does not require external fan cooling, leading to low noise emissions, with a maximum of 65 dB(A). NORD highlights this quiet operation as beneficial for applications like airport baggage handling or retail goods issue.
The company suggests that the constant torque across a wide speed range allows for a reduction in product variants, lowering the total cost of ownership. DuoDrive is designed to be tailored to specific application load ranges.
