NORD Launches IIoT Monitoring System for Predictive Maintenance
German drive manufacturer NORD has released a new IIoT solution, DRIVE MONITOR, designed to track operating data and prevent system downtime.
Getriebebau NORD has introduced DRIVE MONITOR, an industrial internet-of-things (IIoT) solution designed to capture real-time operating data from drive systems. By monitoring phase currents, heat sink temperatures, and vibration levels, the system allows plant operators to identify anomalies and wear before failures occur.
The system leverages the integrated PLC capabilities of NORD frequency inverters to perform local threshold-based analysis. This edge-computing approach minimizes network traffic by transmitting only critical data. The system integrates with existing IT infrastructure using MQTT and TimescaleDB protocols, with data visualization provided through Grafana.
Delivered via Docker containers, the architecture is designed for scalability across various facility sizes. By enabling predictive maintenance, the tool aims to reduce unscheduled production downtime and extend the overall operational life of drive components.
