Helsinki – Nordea Bank Abp announced its financial results for the second quarter and first half of 2026 on July 16. The bank reported a return on equity of 15.9% and earnings per share of EUR 0.36. The board has also decided to distribute a mid-year dividend of EUR 0.34 per share for 2026.
Total income increased by 4% year-on-year, with assets under management (AuM) surpassing EUR 505 billion, driven by growth in savings and investment business. Corporate lending grew by 9% and mortgage lending by 2%. Credit quality remained strong, with net loan losses amounting to EUR 61 million.
The cost-to-income ratio improved to 44.0% from 45.1% in the previous year. This improvement, coupled with strong earnings, supports the bank's outlook of maintaining a return on equity above 15% for the full year 2026. Nordea's capital position is robust, with a Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio of 15.7%.
The mid-year dividend decision is the first part of Nordea's dividend policy, which targets a total payout ratio of 60-70% of full-year profit. The dividend record date is August 6, with payment expected on August 13.
