Nordea Bank Abp has officially completed its re-domiciliation to Finland, effective October 1, 2018. The bank finalized a cross-border reversed merger where its former parent company, Nordea Bank AB (publ), has been dissolved and all its assets and liabilities transferred to Nordea Bank Abp.

This move establishes Finland as Nordea's home country and integrates the bank into the European banking union. The company stated that this strategic step provides a stable and predictable regulatory environment, aligning it with its European peers and supporting its transformation goals.

Nordea has assured customers that there will be no changes to daily services. Operations in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden will continue under branches of Nordea Bank Abp, maintaining the established Nordic business model. The bank confirmed it will remain close to its customers and contribute to Nordic societies.

The bank will continue to cooperate with national authorities and has committed to adhering to Swedish FSA prudential measures until the European Central Bank issues its final capital requirements, expected towards the end of 2019.
