Nordea Named World's Best Bank for Sustainability-Linked Bonds
Nordea Bank Abp has been recognized by Global Finance in its 2024 Sustainable Finance Awards, earning the title of the world's best bank for sustainability-linked bonds and Western Europe's best for transition and sustainability-linked loans.

Nordea Bank Abp has received recognition in Global Finance's 2024 Sustainable Finance Awards, being named the world's best bank for sustainability-linked bonds. The bank was also recognized as the best in Western Europe for transition and sustainability-linked loans, and received awards for best sustainable finance bank in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden.
These accolades highlight Nordea's role in promoting sustainable finance and its contribution to the transition towards a low-carbon economy. As the largest Nordic bank, Nordea emphasizes its significant position in facilitating sustainable financial solutions and supporting clients in achieving their environmental goals.
The bank has set a target to facilitate EUR 200 billion in sustainable financing between 2022 and 2025. By the end of the third quarter of 2023, over EUR 104 billion had already been facilitated, indicating strong progress towards its goal.
Nordea has also established interim targets to reduce carbon emissions in its lending and investment portfolios by 40-50% by 2030, compared to 2019 levels. The bank has developed innovative financial products, including a framework for sustainability-linked loan funding, and has acted as a structuring advisor for significant corporate sustainability-linked financing arrangements.
