Nordea Bank Abp's newest economic outlook report indicates that the global economy is demonstrating notable resilience despite facing numerous global challenges, including geopolitical conflicts, elevated energy prices, and trade tensions. Tightening monetary policies from both the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve continue to exert pressure on financial markets, driving long-term yields in many countries to their highest levels in 15 years.

The outlook highlights a depreciating US dollar while emphasizing the continued outperformance of Nordic economies. For Finland, the report notes that the long period of weak productivity growth appears to be easing. This turnaround is partly attributed to an improved cyclical backdrop, but longer-term drivers of productivity have also strengthened.

Sweden's economy has normalized, with growth picking up pace. The labor market is following suit, and resource utilization is expected to rise slightly above normal next year. Denmark's economy continues to grow at a solid pace, with the pharmaceutical industry remaining the primary growth driver, although momentum is now broadening to other sectors.

The strength of the Nordic economies is a central theme, with Nordea's Chief Economist stating that they continue to outperform globally amidst world economic turbulence. The strong performance of US technology stocks has supported the dollar, but the uncertainty surrounding the profitability of AI-related companies could lead to a significant weakening of the dollar should the market experience a downturn.
