Nordea Q3 profit falls to 1.5 billion euros

Nordea Bank Abp posted an operating profit of 1.5 billion euros for the third quarter of 2026, marking a 4 percent decrease compared to the same period last year. The bank’s return on equity stood at 15.1 percent, with earnings per share reaching 0.35 euros. The profit dip was primarily attributed to a 19 percent decline in the net fair value result, driven by significant interest rate volatility.

Despite the pressure on profit, the bank saw a 9 percent increase in net fee and commission income, supported by strong performance in savings and investment services. Lending volumes remained robust, with corporate lending rising 8 percent and deposits growing 7 percent year on year. Total assets under management reached a record 509 billion euros, a 13 percent increase from the previous year.

Credit quality remained solid, with net loan losses amounting to 74 million euros, or 7 basis points, remaining within the group's long-term targets. Nordea maintained a CET1 capital ratio of 15.8 percent, well above regulatory requirements. The bank reiterated its full-year outlook, aiming for a return on equity exceeding 15 percent.
