Nordea: Q3 Profit Margin Stable at 15.8% Despite Lower Income

Helsinki – Nordea Bank Abp announced in its interim report on October 16, 2025, that its return on equity (ROE) reached 15.8% in the third quarter of 2025. The bank described the performance as solid and resilient despite geopolitical uncertainties, even as total income saw a year-on-year decline.

Total income for the quarter was EUR 2.91 billion, a 3% decrease compared to the same period last year. Net interest income fell by 6% due to policy rate reductions, but net fee and commission income increased by 5%. Credit quality remained strong, with net loan losses amounting to a reversal of EUR 19 million. The Common Equity Tier 1 (CET1) ratio stood at 15.9%, exceeding regulatory requirements by 2.3 percentage points. Nordea also announced a new share buy-back program of EUR 250 million.

The bank indicated it is on track to deliver a return on equity above 15% for the full year 2025. Nordea highlighted the resilience of its diversified Nordic business model, which supports stable earnings and capital generation through economic cycles.
