Nordea Bank Abp has set a target to become a net zero emissions bank by 2050, integrating sustainability fully into its business strategy. The updated plan includes mid-term goals to achieve these long-term objectives.

The Nordic universal bank aims to reduce carbon emissions from its lending and investment portfolios by 40-50% by 2030, using 2019 as a baseline. Nordea will also reduce its internal operational emissions by at least 50% by 2030.

President and Group CEO Frank Vang-Jensen stated that the bank will achieve these targets by supporting and collaborating with customers towards sustainable development, with a focus on sectors that have a significant climate impact.

Nordea is committed to aligning its business strategy with the Paris Agreement and UN Sustainable Development Goals, offering a broad range of sustainability products and services to support its customers in their transition.
