Nordnet to Establish German Branch

Nordnet, a prominent Nordic digital savings and investment platform, has announced its intention to establish a presence in Germany. The company plans to launch its operations in the second half of 2026, marking a significant step in its international expansion.

With 2.1 million customers and over EUR 90 billion in assets under management across Scandinavia, Nordnet currently operates in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Finland. The expansion into Germany is viewed as a natural progression, aiming to replicate its success in a new, large European market.

Germany, as Europe's most populous country, presents a substantial opportunity for Nordnet. CEO Lars-Åke Norling highlighted the significant growth potential due to the country's large population and an increasing interest in investment products. Despite a competitive landscape, Nordnet believes its digital-first, customer-centric approach, transparent pricing, and broad product offering are well-suited to German investor needs.

Nordnet's market research indicates a growing demand among German investors for simpler and more affordable investment options, with digital platforms gaining traction over traditional providers. The company aims to democratize saving and investing by providing private investors with access to the same tools and information as professional investors.

The establishment in Germany is projected to incur costs of approximately EUR 5 million in 2025, with subsequent annual costs rising to around EUR 9 million from 2028. A preliminary website has been launched in Germany for interested parties to register for updates on the company's progress.
