North Dakota Welcomes Travelers for Sunflower Season

North Dakota's landscape transforms into fields of gold from late July through August as its sunflower fields reach peak bloom. As one of America's leading sunflower-producing states, it offers travelers a unique visual spectacle combined with scenic drives and local agricultural experiences.

In 2025, North Dakota harvested over one billion pounds of sunflowers from more than 500,000 acres. The blooming season attracts photographers and road trippers nationwide, providing an opportunity to engage with the state's agricultural heritage and communities.

The state's Tourism and Marketing Division has launched a map highlighting 28 participating sunflower fields. This resource is updated with bloom conditions, guiding visitors to the best viewing spots while also suggesting nearby attractions and accommodations.

Travelers can sample sunflower products like GIANTS® sunflower seeds and SunButter, available throughout the state, showcasing local agricultural output. Seed samples are also offered at select viewing locations.
